Privacy Policy
Privacy PolicyThe 30-second version
- We only collect your personal data when you actively register for an event or subscribe to the newsletter. Simply browsing the site requires nothing from you.
- Registration data is used to contact you about the event and to check you in on the day. For some sessions the attendee list is shared with that session’s instructor or venue, strictly for running that event.
- The newsletter only carries event and curatorial content. Every issue has an unsubscribe link, and you can leave at any time.
- We do not sell your personal data, and we do not pass it to third parties unrelated to our events.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your data at any time — just send us an email.
The full policy follows. This summary is written for ease of reading; where it differs from the clauses below, the clauses govern.
01Who we are
The Masa’opo Festival (“this site”) is organised by 主辦單位全名(待填), which is the collector and controller of personal data under this policy.
This policy explains how this site collects, uses, retains and protects your personal data. It applies to all pages and features under this site’s domain. If you follow a link from this site to an external site (for example an external registration system or a social platform), those sites have their own privacy policies and are not covered here.
02What data we collect
Data collection on this site happens in two places: event registration and newsletter subscription. Beyond that, there are technical records generated by site operation and traffic analysis.
| Context | What is collected | When it happens |
|---|---|---|
| Event registration | Name, gender, email, mobile number | When you click “Register” on a programme page and submit the form |
| Newsletter subscription | When you fill in the subscription field, or choose to subscribe within interactive content on the site | |
| Browsing records | IP address, browser and device type, pages visited and time spent | Recorded automatically as you browse, for traffic analysis and site maintenance |
The registration form asks only for the four fields needed to contact you and verify your identity. It does not ask for your national ID number, date of birth, home address or any other non-essential information. The gender field includes a “Prefer not to say” option.
About subscription invitations in interactive content
Some interactive content and games on this site end with an invitation to subscribe to the newsletter. Such invitations are always optional — declining does not affect your use of the feature or your ability to see the full result, and we do not use prize draws or locked content to pressure you into subscribing.
03How we use this data
Event communication: sending registration results, pre-event notices, and notices of changes or cancellations.
On-site check-in: verifying registration and places on the day of the event.
Newsletter: sending event previews, curatorial content and related coverage.
Improving the site: using aggregated traffic statistics to understand which content is read most often, as a basis for editorial and layout decisions. This does not involve analysis of individuals.
We will not use your data for any purpose beyond those listed above. If new purposes are added in future, we will revise this policy and announce it on the site first; for significant changes we will also notify by email those who have provided data.
04Who we share data with
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. The following are all the circumstances in which data may be passed on:
Partner organisations
For some sessions (workshops, courses needing advance preparation, or events with venue access control), that session’s attendee list is provided to the collaborating instructor, artist or venue operator, strictly within the scope and period needed to run that event.
What is shared is limited to what is needed for contact and check-in, usually name and contact details; partners may not use the list for any purpose beyond that event. The registration page states whether a session involves sharing the attendee list, so you can decide before you submit.
Technical service providers
This site uses the following third-party services. They process some data in the course of providing those services:
| Service | Purpose | Data they come into contact with |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics | Site traffic analysis | IP address, device and browser information, page-viewing behaviour |
| 電子報平台(待填) | Newsletter delivery and unsubscribe management | Subscriber email, opens and click records |
| YouTube | Embedded video playback | Viewing and device information recorded by YouTube during playback |
Legal requirements
Where required by law, or upon a lawful request from a competent authority or judicial body, we may be obliged to provide relevant data.
05Cookies and tracking technologies
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. This site uses two kinds:
Essential cookies: these keep the site working — remembering your chosen language or filter settings, for example. Disabling them will affect how the site functions.
Analytics cookies: set by Google Analytics to count visits and popular pages. These cookies are not used to identify you.
In addition, when you play a YouTube video embedded in a page, YouTube sets its own cookies; those are covered by Google’s privacy policy.
You can manage or clear cookies in your browser settings, and you can install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on to refuse analytics tracking. Disabling essential cookies may stop some features working properly.
06How long we keep data
| Data | Retention period |
|---|---|
| Registration data | Kept for ◯ 年(待填,建議依補助案核銷需求填寫) after the event ends, then deleted |
| Newsletter subscription | Kept until you unsubscribe; removed from the mailing list once you do |
| Traffic analysis records | Per Google Analytics’ default retention period, deleted automatically on expiry |
Where the law requires a longer retention period (for example the settlement and audit requirements of a grant programme), that requirement applies.
07Your rights
Under the Personal Data Protection Act, you may exercise the following rights in respect of the personal data this site holds about you:
- Enquire about or request access to your personal data.
- Request a copy.
- Request that incorrect data be supplemented or corrected.
- Request that collection, processing or use be stopped.
- Request deletion of your personal data.
How to exercise them: email the address below with your name and what you are asking for — no standard application form is required. We will respond and act within a reasonable period.
For the newsletter it is simpler still: every issue has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you are out — no need to write to us, and no explanation required.
Please note that if the data you ask us to delete relates to a registration for an event that has not yet taken place, we will no longer be able to contact you about changes, and that registration will be cancelled along with it.
08Data security
This site transmits data over HTTPS. Registration and subscription data is held in access-controlled systems, available only to staff who need it for their work.
We make reasonable efforts to protect your data, but we should also be honest: transmission and storage over the internet is never absolutely secure. In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected individuals and the competent authority in the manner and within the period required by law.
09Minors
If you are under eighteen, please register or subscribe only after a parent or legal guardian has read and agreed to this policy. If a minor has provided personal data without that consent, a legal guardian may write to us at any time to request its deletion.
10Changes to this policy
This policy may be revised in response to changes in the law, adjustments to our services, or the addition of third-party services. Revised versions are published on this page, and the “Last updated” date at the top is updated accordingly.
Where a change materially affects what we collect or why, we will post a prominent notice on the site and email those who have provided data — rather than quietly editing this page.
